The technology

The Accelerate agent portal is comprised of a front-end UI built with React on an open-source headless CMS framework as-a-backend (Liferay) hosted on AWS. The portal is integrated with Salesforce Sales Cloud which operates as a secondary database and CRM. Our student application platform provides real-time data analysis using application servers like Tomcat and JBoss. The frontend React application retrieves and transacts data with Liferay and Salesforce through RESTful and GraphQL services.

A new opportunity exists for an energetic and results-focused Software Engineer Full Stack to join our Technology team at Accelerate.

Reporting to the VP Engineering, you will work a part of a cross-functional team that is responsible for the full software development life cycle, from conception to deployment.

As the Software Engineer Full Stack, you will develop and maintain the B2B Accelerate agent portal custom software solution.

This role will be managing the end-to life cycle for the production of the software and application.

What you will do

The role will be responsible for analysing, writing, building and deploying software together with the Accelerate project team. The role will also oversee automated testing and provide feedback to the project team for solutions.


Key responsibilities:

  • Work with the internal development team, product managers and external vendors to ideate software solutions based on a project brief
  • Clarify product requirements: design client-side and server-side architecture
  • Collaborate effectively to support relationships with external technical vendors and suppliers
  • Build the front-end of applications through appealing visual design
  • Build features and applications with a mobile responsive design ensuring cross-platform optimization for mobile phones
  • Develop and manage well-functioning database and applications
  • Ensure the responsiveness, performance and speed of applications
  • Create design plans for the user-facing side of the application, which controls look, feel, and function
  • Design user interactions on web pages working alongside graphic designers for web design features
  • Developing back end services that will serve both external and internal website applications
  • Creating and maintaining infrastructure servers, networking and databases on AWS as necessary for functionality
  • Design, write, develop and implement effective and scalable web service APIs
  • Write technical documentation: draw up technical and functional specifications for written documents, manuals and training guides
  • Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and come up with novel ways to solve them
  • Create and ensure that non-functional requirements such as security, data protection, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability are being considered when architecting solutions
  • Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software meeting both technical and consumer needs
  • Evaluating work according to project-specific criteria and recommending solutions to challenges requiring complex technical trade-offs (for example, speed versus reliability and user-experience or manufacturability versus overall performance)
  • Seeing through a project from conception to finished product
  • Staying informed of developments in web applications and programming languages.

About you

  • Degree qualification in Computer Science, Statistics or relevant field
  • Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer or similar role
  • Familiarity with DevOps in software development projects and IT operations
  • Familiar working in an Agile and Waterfall delivery framework including using tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to develop fully-fledged platforms (with databases, servers and clients) which do not need other applications to function
  • Experience developing desktop and mobile applications
  • Familiarity working with Salesforce CRM and API’s
  • Writing clean, functional code on the front- and back-end systems
  • Hands-on experience developing code using JavaScript, Angular, React/Redux, HTML/CSS, Bootstrap
  • Hands-on experience developing using a server-side language such as Java, PHP, C#, C++ to develop applications
  • Familiar with Git and GitHub
  • Familiarity with databases (e.g. servers like MySQL, Oracle, MS SQL, Postgres)
  • Experience in both HTTP, REST, GraphQL.
  • Experience in RESTful API design and development
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, system design and algorithms.

EduCo owns and operates colleges and partners with public and not-for-profit universities in growing the student community and delivering specialised on-campus pathway programs in Australia, Canada, Ireland and the United States.

Marketing and Recruitment is a primary area of emphasis for EduCo, and the global Recruitment team, comprised of over 90 staff based in 21 countries, is a key driver of EduCo’s success. The team is responsible for promoting EduCo institutions in source markets and managing recruitment channels to ensure new student enrolment budgets are met. The position of Regional Recruitment Manager offers the opportunity for an experienced sales and marketing professional to build their career with an exciting global education group.


Primary purpose

The overall purpose of the Regional Recruitment Manager position is to increase the volume, quality and diversity of EduCo students in line with budgets for EduCo partner universities in Australia, Canada, Ireland and USA.


Key responsibilities & accountabilities

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  1. Agent relationship management
  • Maintain excellent relationships with current EduCo recruitment agents
  • Provide ongoing training, product information and relevant EduCo promotions for agents
  • Research, analyse and recommend new agency agreements for signing
  • Monitor agent performance and student feedback and report to EduCo to assist product and service development
  • Provide agents with training, education and ongoing marketing support for new products and destinations launched by EduCo
  1. Recruitment and Promotion
  • Research and prepare annual Regional Recruitment Plans and expenditure budgets
  • Organise EduCo participation in agent, government, feeder events and EduCo focused promotional events including seminars, interview sessions and exhibitions
  • Negotiate investment in recruitment and marketing activities in line with marketing support guidelines
  • Attend and represent EduCo at industry networking functions
  • Research and report on the effectiveness of marketing and promotional campaigns (return on investment)
  1. Client liaison
  • Pro-active and responsive communication with clients (agents, parents, feeders and students) regularly through the recruitment cycle to maximise conversion rates from enquiry, application, acceptance and commencement
  • Run reports on outstanding applications and contact students, feeders and agents via email, phone to progress the sale and report on follow up actions implemented
  • Maintain relationships with relevant Government organisations including embassies, trade commissions and visa officers
  1. Feeder institution relationship management
  • Research and identify institutions with the potential to supply students into EduCo institutions
  • Initiate and maintain active relationships with feeders
  • Initiate recruitment programs such as scholarship arrangements, articulation agreements and ongoing promotional activities with feeders
  1. Research, reporting, administration and compliance
  • Compile regular agent and student recruitment reports to monitor student numbers against the target
  • Gather feedback on market conditions including competitors, industry trends and opportunities for EduCo to inform marketing strategy and to increase recruitment numbers
  • Manage the regional marketing budget and accurately report expenditure
  • Ensure agents comply with all regulatory requirements and have access to appropriate information for them to maintain compliance
  • Ensure all marketing and promotional activities conducted by EduCo are ethical and comply with all relevant local, international and company-wide legislation/policy

Qualifications, experience & technical skills

Qualifications, technical skills and experience required of this role include:

  • A proven track record of success achieving sales budgets through non-exclusive channel sales (essential)
  • Relevant Diploma/ Degree in Business or Marketing
  • Demonstrated successful sales experience in education or similar service industry (essential)
  • Existing networks of education recruitment agencies and feeder institutions (preferred)
