Why is Vancouver ideal for international students?

For the second straight year, Vancouver landed 5th place among the Top 10 cities in the world according to Mercer’s Quality of Living rankings for 20181. It is the only North American city to make it to the list this year, besting other attractive cities in the continent such as Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and San Francisco, among others.
Mercer uses the following criteria to assess a city’s quality of living:

  • Political and social environment
  • Economic environment
  • Socio-cultural environment
  • Medical and health considerations
  • Schools and education
  • Public services and transportation
  • Recreation
  • Consumer goods
  • Housing
  • Natural environment

While it is a good place to live in, Vancouver is also an ideal destination for education, especially for international students. It is home to Arbutus College, an institution that offers diploma programs and vocational education in hospitality management, business, marketing, international trade, translation and academic English. The school celebrates diversity and encourages student success which reflects the same welcoming vibe Vancouver is known for.
It also offers a student-centred teaching model that trumps large, university hall-type lectures in favour of small-class sizes and one-on-one attention. This progressive approach to learning is lauded by the school’s current students and alumni, who all agree that Arbutus helps maximise their learning potential and achieve their career goals.
International students who are thinking about studying in Vancouver have an easy decision to make. With the breathtaking scenery of the city, its idyllic quality of life and the high-quality education standards in British Columbia, studying in Vancouver only makes perfect sense.
