In 2018, SCU was ranked number one in Australia for International Student Support by the International Student Barometer (ISB), the global benchmark for demonstrating excellence in the international student experience.
The ISB tracks over three million international students worldwide throughout the important decision-making process, from application to graduation, which means that we were ranked number one in Australia by our students themselves. We are proud of this accolade because we pride ourselves on the unique and personalised international student support services that we offer at our branch campuses in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
“SCU is one of the best universities in Australia. They have qualified tutors who are very cooperative and guide students in the best way. The student support services team helps the international students to settle down properly after they arrive. Moreover, the learning environment of SCU is very good,” said Princy Aghi, a current Master of Professional Accounting student at SCU Sydney.
The 2019 Good Universities Guide also rated SCU 5 stars for student support, teaching quality and social equity, so students can be confident that when they chose SCU as their education provider, they will be well looked after.
SCU’s branch campuses in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth offer students the guidance they need to adjust positively to Australian university life.
Our multicultural teams are dedicated to assist and support international students. The diverse nationality mix of staff from different countries like Australia, China, Vietnam and India, means that students have many expert staff on-campus who can easily assist.
All of our branch campuses have Student Welfare Counsellors on hand, who meet with students and run free workshops on a diverse range of topics, from mindfulness to culture shock and managing exam stress.
Our Careers Counsellors run excellent workshops too, preparing students for the demands of the Australian workplace by offering workshops on resume writing, interview skills and employer networking, just to name a few!
SCU also has Student Experience Officers, who run year-round social and cultural events as well as offering exciting excursions to famous local landmarks. These experiences are a great way for students to connect with their fellow peers and to meet other students from all around the world.
In terms of academic support, SCU students can opt to attend our free Academic Skills Workshops that are held on a regular basis on all campuses. Our Learning Advisers run different workshops throughout the year, from how to improve your academic writing and referencing skills, to the all-important exam preparation.
Student Mentors provide support to students who need academic assistance and the Student Representative Council is a leadership body of elected students who represent and advocate for all international students.
It’s so important to us that our students are supported from day one so that they can integrate well into our community, and get to learn more about on-campus life.
