University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s (UMBC) prominence as a public research university was once again affirmed by its recognition in college rankings.
The 2018 U.S. News & World Report ranked UMBC 7th most innovative school and 13th best in undergraduate teaching. UMBC scored high in innovation metrics like research initiatives, technology facilities, curriculum design and campus life. It also performed well in undergraduate teaching metrics based on core classroom experience and overall teaching style. UMBC is a consistent placer in the U.S. News & World Report rankings, having been recognised for ten consecutive years already.
In another development, UMBC was named a Best Value College by Kiplinger for its academic quality and affordability. Among other factors, its 19:1 student-faculty ratio and financial aid programs have contributed greatly to the university. UMBC was even recognised by The Princeton Review as a top choice “for students seeking a superb education with great career preparation and at an affordable price”. It is one of the American institutions named in the 2018 “Colleges That Pay You Back: The 200 Schools That Give You the Best Bang for Your Tuition Buck” report released by The Princeton Review.
UMBC Student Government Association President Joshua E. Massey proudly welcomed the news, “The time and effort our community puts into developing high-value research and learning experiences, plus engaging student life on campus, is worthy of national attention.”
