Current students were tapped by Southern Cross University (SCU) Melbourne to launch its Student Mentor Program, a system established to help new students adjust to the academic rigours of SCU and guide them in attaining their individual study goals.
The program aims to cover a range of student issues that involve learning, communications, advice, and use of facilities. New students will have someone to ask more easily in case they encounter problems in their day-to-day school activities, such as navigating the online study portal MySCU; connecting with the Learning Support Team, Careers Adviser, and Counselling Services; and accessing the SCU Online Library and its printing services.
Weekly drop-in sessions are held at the Level 2 Study Area every Tuesday 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, every Wednesday 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM and every Friday 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Interested students may just join in, meaning no pre-scheduled appointment is needed.
More details about the program will be discussed with incoming, new students of Session 1 2018 during orientation.
