Stephanie Korilis has been named the new campus manager for Southern Cross University Melbourne.
Stephanie has eight years of work experience in the tertiary education sector and describes herself as a passionate and driven individual who is always looking for a new challenge. “I like to be open, innovative and brave to trial and implement new ideas that will improve the student experience,” she relates.
With her educational background in management, Stephanie gained a wide range of operational and leadership experience with a strong focus on student support and student services. It only comes naturally that providing students with the best university experience possible has become her passion.
Knowing about each student’s story
When asked what inspires her to do her job every single day, she readily shares, “I have met some really incredible people in this position and I absolutely love getting to know more about our students and hearing their stories. What I love the most about my role is watching students achieve their goals.”
Since assuming this role, Stephanie says she has gained a new appreciation for international students – traveling to Australia from their home countries, leaving behind their family and friends and chasing their dream of getting a globally-recognised education in a highly-progressive country. “I believe it takes great bravery to pack up your life and leave for a new country, especially with the challenges that our international students face,” she points out.
Working with a passionate team of educators
In her capacity as campus manager, Stephanie works closely with an incredibly passionate team who do their part in helping students throughout their studies. “We provide students with an amazing opportunity to change their lives for the better so when I watch them walk out of their last exam, say goodbye to the campus and attend their final awards ceremony, I find that is the most rewarding feeling.”
Stephanie adds that the most important thing that she learnt as a professional was to never give up. “You can achieve and be whatever and whoever you want to be as long as you push yourself to your limits and never give up. Be brave and have courage, be daring and don’t be afraid to challenge yourself.”
