New look, same progressive university

If you follow SCU Melbourne and SCU Sydney on Facebook, you would have noticed that they’re looking a little different; Southern Cross University has rebranded!
The change has come about due to different reasons:

  • It was requested by staff and students, who felt that the tagline ‘it’s all about U’ did not match the University’s progressive and ethical nature.
  • To add a third colour to the University’s design: green. This emphasises Southern Cross University’s commitment to the environment.
  • The Southern Cross constellation, featured in the previous design, was difficult to reproduce with clarity in digital formats.

The new logo also reflects the University’s young, progressive and connected nature. It is one of the Asia-Pacific’s Top 100 Universities and has branch campuses in three of Australia’s – and the world’s – most liveable cities: Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Of course, as the University’s namesake is Australia’s favourite constellation of stars – the Southern Cross features on the national flag – the logo still references this. There is a bright star in the middle of the logo and, when reversed, the full constellation is still there.
