Southern Cross University gains prestigious accreditation for IT degrees

Southern Cross University has just received a prestigious professional accreditation for its ICT programs from the Australian Computer Society (ACS), the largest professional body representing the information and communications technology sector in Australia.

Dr Hosein Gharavi, National Academic Director for Southern Cross University Sydney, Melbourne and Perth, thanked the faculty, administrators and staff for their due diligence in improving and maintaining the quality standards of the Bachelor of Information Technology programs.

ICT professionals have been recognised as drivers of innovation in society and international students may do well to catch this opportunity of being at the forefront of innovative breakthroughs with their understanding of how technology works.

As a requirement for maintaining the professional accreditation status until 2023, Southern Cross University campuses will continue to work on their (1) Industry Action Plan, (2) Curriculum Change Management Plan, (3) Ongoing Communication and (4) Staffing that fulfils the Faculty Qualifications Guidelines.

To ensure that they maintain quality processes, their industry action plan will strengthen Capstone presentations to the ICT industry, IT showcases, guest lectures and ongoing membership on the ICT Curriculum Advisory Group.

Bachelor of Information Technology Programs

Students of Southern Cross University’s Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) programs will be greatly impacted by the new status especially with the continuous improvements undertaken to meet quality standards. They will be better equipped to cope with the industry demands in the ICT sector, and to some extent, chart the future of technological developments in their area of expertise.

Southern Cross University Sydney, Perth and Melbourne branch campuses are offering BIT programs with concentrations in Digital Enterprise and Software Development. Both programs prepare students to be job-ready and fulfil future roles as programmers, designers, web developers, systems analysts, database administrators, project managers, ICT network professionals or technical support personnel.
