Gearing up for management and leadership roles with a master’s degree in cybersecurity

University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s master’s degree programs in cybersecurity have been designed with the graduate professional in mind.  The Master of Professional Studies: Cybersecurity, Post-Baccalaureate Certificate: Cybersecurity Strategy and Policy and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate: Cybersecurity Operations have been tailored to prepare technical professionals involved with cybersecurity to fill management and leadership roles in cyber operations across industries.
“Cybersecurity is critical to any company or business operations, regardless of whether it is a private or government entity,” says Jim Panos, EduCo’s senior vice president for North American operations. “Thus, international students enrolled in any of the three graduate degrees can gain the applicable skills that are targeted to address the needs of the existing cybersecurity workforce in the United States, and specifically in Maryland where UMBC, our highly-ranked partner institution, is located,”

Advantages of UMBC’s graduate programs in cybersecurity

According to Rayann Ibasco, UMBC Graduate School coordinator, there are three reasons which set the university’s cybersecurity programs a cut above the rest. First, classes are taught by cybersecurity industry experts who are up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices. Second, the university offers flexible evening, hybrid, and/or weekend class schedules that can accommodate working professionals. Third, the university provides students with a wealth of knowledge and research materials that cater to industry-specific needs. It is uniquely positioned to provide education and training that respond to Maryland’s need for qualified technical professionals in the cybersecurity field.
UMBC is certified as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense Education (CAE-IA/CD) as well as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense Research (CAE-R) sponsored by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
