Canada has recorded another double-digit growth in enrolment in 2018. The Canadian Bureau for International Education reported a 16% growth based on the study conducted by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), with the total number of international students now listed at 572,415.
Among the top three countries sending international students to Canada are India with a 40% growth in enrolment, China with 2% and South Korea with 5%. India has already overtaken China as the #1 sending country as of 31 December 2018. Student numbers from the top three source countries are as follows: 172,625 from India, 142,985 from China and 24,195 from South Korea.
The total number of post-secondary international students also increased by 17% from the 2017 figures listed at 370,975. As of 31 December, the total number is 435,415. According to the study, 96% of international students surveyed said they would also recommend Canada to family and friends as an ideal study destination.
