Applications ongoing for 2019 Spring, Summer and Fall intakes

Education agents are encouraged to prepare their students for the 2019 intakes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Duquesne University.
Applications are now open for all three 2019 undergraduate and postgraduate student intakes: Spring 2019, Summer 2019 and Fall 2019.
Education agents can help their students apply to Nebraska or Duquesne for any of the 3 intakes by filling out the Application Form and downloading the Application Checklist on the EduCo Partner Portal. They can then submit them along with required documents to the local EduCo staff.

University of Nebraska–Lincoln

Classes will start on 7 January and 13 May for spring and summer, respectively, while Fall 2019 classes will commence on 26 August.
For Spring 2019, the deadline for applications is on 24 November while the last day to send documents and the enrolment deposit will be on 1 December. Admitted students are required to arrive on campus any time from 1 to 3 January in time for the mandatory orientation on 4 to 5 January.

International student experience at Nebraska

International student Zifan (Stephen) Kang from China, who is now in his second year at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln studying finance and actuarial science as his major and mathematics and music technology as his minor, talks about his experience as a Husker: “When I first arrived, one of the first things offered by the university was support from the International Welcome Team… showing us around the campus and treating us as friends. Now I am part of [this] team.
“[At Nebraska] we are working to solve problems, gain knowledge and learn from one another. We are also trying to shape and change the world. No matter where you are from, no matter what you are interested in, you will, in time, find where you belong here in Nebraka because we will support you, challenge you and celebrate you,” Zifan adds.
He points out that Lincoln is not a big city. “But like the Chinese proverb says, ‘The sparrow may be small but it has all the vital organs.’ You can find what you want right here. As long as you work hard, the ‘American Dream’ will come true for you, too.”

Duquesne University

International students, with the guidance of their education agents, may fill out the Duquesne Undergraduate or Graduate Application Form in the EduCo Partner Portal and submit them along with required documents to Duquesne University’s local EduCo staff.
Duquesne’s undergraduate and graduate student intakes for 2019 are as follows:

  • Spring Intake – 10 January 2019

  • Summer Intake – 13 May 2019

  • Fall Intake – 26 August 2019

The deadline for application and submission of documents for Spring 2019 will be on 1 December 2018.

International student experience at Duquesne

Sebastian Narvaez Medina of Colombia, an International Relations and Political Science student, says: “There was a huge welcome. The international orientation was very exciting. We got to know a lot of people. We had a picnic. We [also] had a day [where] we went shopping and it was great. Everything was well-organised and they really made us feel as if we’re in our home [country].”
Haohan Xu of China, a student of Secondary Education, also describes his experience as “very welcoming.” He relates that before he arrived at Duquesne, he received many emails from the university’s Office of International Programs giving him tips and reminders especially upon arrival at the Pittsburgh airport.
Aminata Soko of Mauritania, a Business Administration student, likewise relates that she would just send an email to a student support staff and she would get an immediate response on areas that need clarification.
With a 16:1 student to teacher ratio, students are assured of more interaction with their professors.
