Arbutus College students have been invited to a number of events in the city and everyone in the campus community felt the excitement in the air particularly on the days leading up to Christmas.
After the Orientation Day on 25 November, new students were treated to an Open House on 3 December and got acquainted with the faculty and staff and the facilities on campus. On 10 December, everyone on campus including faculty and staff participated in the Christmas Party. The highlight of the celebration was the Roll of Excellence Awards where students who achieved the highest grade point average (GPA) were honoured and given a corresponding prize.
For some students, this will be their first Canadian Christmas. They got invited to some of Vancouver’s major Christmas events, among them the Bright Nights at Stanley Park and Santa Claus Parade on 1 December, Christmas Lights Walk on 7 December, two-day Got Craft: Holiday Edition on 7-8 December and the upcoming Lantern Festival on 21 December.
The Bright Nights at Stanley Park features millions of sparkling festive lights and will be on display until New Year’s Day. The entrance fee is by donation only, with proceeds going to the British Columbia Professional Firefighters Burn Fund.
